“We prepare for war, so there is no war”
Sweden has been part of NATO for a couple of years now. It cooperates with NATO allies in the Baltic Sea and in the industrial base. Multilateral exercises and industrial links are required for deterrence to truly work. And efficient deterrence will result in problems for Russia and Vladimir Putin. Currently Sweden has more allies than ever and it keeps learning how to be a better partner within NATO. The state has a tradition of a strong, innovative aviation and naval industry. It builds its own aircraft and submarines, which is not a given within Europe.
Sweden, along with the rest of Europe, has learned many lessons from the ongoing war in Ukraine. The main one is that it was not prepared for war at all. A lot of states used to deeply cooperate with Russia, especially in the energy sector. Now the situation is different. Many European countries managed to diversify their energy sources and sever ties with Russia. Sweden, along with its partners, tries to address the current problems of the military sector. Once these problems are identified, a strong industrial base, cooperation, and deterrence can be built.
