During the opening speech at the Defence24 Days conference, Deputy PM, Head of the Polish Ministry of Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced that Transformation Command would be established. Commanding the transformation as a process is what Poland needs, he stressed.

Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz, along with the leadership of the Polish Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Security Bureau, and representatives of the Armed Forces and Defence industry took part in the opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the Defence24 Days conference.

In his speech, the Head of the Polish Ministry of Defence referred to earlier statements on the establishment of the Transformation Command. The necessity to establish a separate commanding authority coordinating the commissioning of the new equipment and the military training had been first mentioned by Kosiniak-Kamysz during a meeting of the Parliamentary Defence Commission in February.

“Transformation requires command, it requires the involvement of different entities and units, thus we will create a Transformation Command, we will create and control transformation as a whole process, not just procurement of a single equipment type, as commanding the whole transformation process is what Poland simply needs”, Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Monday.

The idea was also mentioned by the Chief of the General Staff, General Wiesław Kukuła who compared the activities of the new command to the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), dealing with troop training and implementation of new doctrines. As Kukuła said, the new command would make it possible to diminish the burden placed on the shoulders of division or brigade commanders who, instead of focusing on individual training, could deal with training cooperation and coordination of the subordinated units, and maintaining the proper levels of combat readiness.

Head of the Polish MoD, during his Defence24 Days opening speech, stressed the fact that equipping the Polish troops with a top-level individual kit would be one of the priorities - guaranteeing their safety. „We are shifting the means to do this, and to maintain the equipment that currently remains at the disposal of the Polish Armed Forces”, he said, referring to the “Operacja Szpej” initiative, launched by General Wiesław Kukuła. He added that procurement efforts planned to be finalized this year include the handover of the first F-35s in the United States, but many deliveries would be happening later.
