Commander of the SOCEUR Component in Poland.

Polish General Command of the Armed Forces was visited by General Gregory Lengyel who works as the SOCEUR (Special Operations Command Europe) commander. Continued collaboration of the Polish and US Special Forces was the main issue covered by the talks.

General Gregory Lengyel met, on 5th April, in Warsaw, the Polish General Commander of the Armed Forces, General Mirosław Różański. Representatives of the Special Forces Inspectorate, Special Forces Component Command and Air Force Inspectorate were also attending the said meeting.

During the talks, the generals summarized the collaboration undertaken so far by the Special Forces of both nations, primarily focusing on joint training and exercises, and on carrying out operations, e.g. during the Afghan deployments. General Lengyel noted that the Polish Special Forces component is an unquestionable leader among such formations in the Central and Eastern part of Europe.

During the Visit, the SOCEUR Commander received the Golden Polish Army Medal (Polish: Medal Wojska Polskiego) from General Różanski, given on behalf of the Defence Minister. The US General received the medal for his contribution to expansion of the Polish Defence potential and for his achievements within the area of multinational components collaboration, including the units involving the elements of the Polish Army.
