The order concerns supply of high altitude rescue equipment. The procurement consists of two parts. The first one assumes that WUK-90 high altitude pressure suits would be acquired, with the said suit being a part of the individual inventory kit used by the flying crews of the supersonic MiG-29 jets.
The second portion of the order concerns the S-4 seat parachute, being an individual component within the equipment of the flying crews the purpose of which is to provide the crew with an ability to safely exit the M-28 aircraft and Mi-8, Mi-14, Mi-17, Mi-24, SW-4 and W-3 helicopters in emergency circumstances.
According to the Armament Inspectorate of the Polish Ministry of Defence, the total and final value of the order exceeds the amount of PLN 3.5 million (PLN 3.2 million and PLN 314 thousand respectively for the first and second portion of the order). The main criterion used to select the contractor was the price (weight of 60), guarantee having the secondary importance (weight of 40). The first part of the procurement is to be implemented by the Lubawa S.A. company, with the second one being dealt with by AIR-POL.
According to the information published on the occasion of initiating the tender, the first part of the potential order assumes that WUK-90 pressure suits would be delivered in the following quantities:
- 39 packages in 2017,
- 39 packages in 2018,
- 21 packages in 2019,
- 21 packages in 2020,
The other part of the order assumes that 30 S-4 seat parachute packages would be supplied throughout the year 2017.
The tender concerning the deliveries of the aforesaid equipment began on 18th November 2016. The procedure was being carried out in line with the Public Procurement Law Act, and it was divided into the aforesaid two tasks, in case of which the offers could have been submitted separately by the entities interested in doing so.
