Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) has just delivered three IBIS mobile robots, with auxiliary equipment, for the Polish Border Guard units operating at the airports in Gdansk, Wroclaw and Modlin.

The robots will be used within the airport areas, for the purpose of increasing the level of safety. These are yet another examples of the IBIS robot, which are going to be operated at the airports, following the earlier deployments in Warsaw, Poznan and Katowice.

IBIS is a bomb disposal/reconnaissance robotic platform. Once fitted with additional devices, the robot may also be used to neutralize hazardous packages, carry out chemical reconnaissance and rescue operations.

The IBIS robots acquired for the Polish Border Guard feature a number of additional devices which expand their field of application and facilitate the work undertaken by the officers. The above elements include a mount for a portable X-ray system, a holder for a pyrotechnical launcher, interchangeable gripper for lifting and moving objects of large dimensions, and a negotiation suite.
