NATO Summit in Warsaw to be Held at the National Stadium

Polish Ministry of Defence announced that a rent agreement has been signed pertaining the PGE Narodowy stadium, for the purposes related to the NATO Summit which is to be organized in the capital city of Poland. The agreement has been signed by Jakub Opara, President of the Board of the PL2012+ company, and Bogdan Ścibut, Ministry of Defence’s General Director.

PGE Narodowy stadium has been rented for the period between 20th May and 31st July 2016. It is going to be used to be the location of talks of the NATO Summit in Warsaw, between 8th and 9th July 2016. The meeting will be attended by the leaders of ca. 65 countries and by the leaders of the top NATO partner organizations, including the United Nations and the European Union. In general, the summit will involve ca. 2500 officials, and it is going to be reported by ca. 1500 journalists.

The Warsaw summit should lead to decisions pertaining the increased NATO presence on its Eastern flank and the exercise programme related to the rotational NATO presence in the Central-Eastern European region. NATO infrastructure in the above region will also be discussed. These decisions will determine the quantitative shape of the alliance's involvement in reinforcement of the NATO eastern flank.

The summit shall also have a decisive impact on the strategic adaptation regarding the assumptions and basis on which NATO functions. This also concerns the armed forces operating under its jurisdiction. The aim of the adaptation is to tailor the NATO forces to be able to respond to growing threat, including the threat on the part of the Russians.
